High density of +650 kg/m3 and convenient size for easy transport.
Low moisture of around 8-10% for easy and efficient firing.
Round the year availability
It gives much higher boiler efficiency compared to firewood.
There is no fly-ash when briquettes are burnt.
Combustion is more uniform compared to coal and boiler response to changes in steam requirement is faster.
It is inexhaustible because it is produced every year and so forms a source of renewable energy.
