Field of expertise:

Procede Biomass BV (PRO) is a young company (2007) specialized in research and consultancy on energy from biomass. Procede Biomass is involved in technology development of bio-energy systems and in large scale market introduction of small scale combustion systems (pellet stoves) in The Netherlands. A number of feasibility studies are being performed for various specific installations in the Netherlands. Other research projects are related to optimization of energy chains and lowering of environmental impact of combustion small scale combustion installations. Further, Procede Biomass BV coordinates a number of international expert networks projects on biomass combustion, including IEA Bio-energy Task 32 and the EU CombNet expert network.
50% of the company shares of Procede Biomass are owned by Procede Group BV, knowledge intensive SME (about 25 employees) dedicated to process innovation based on chemical engineering knowledge and expertise. Amongst others, this company has a unique patent position in the production of various chemicals from organic wastes.

Role in the project:
Considering its expertise in consultancy on energy from biomass, PRO will participate in the identification of sustainable criteria in bio-products production. At the same time will support the Leadership of DTU to develop the Report of Current Research Activities for Bio-Products Production
Co-ordinated by BZN, PRO will participate in the identification of Centres of Excellence.
Besides, as the rest of members, PRO will be expected to promote the project actively, through the collaboration in workshops, seminars, company website and literature.
