Biozoon GmbH is research-driven food(bio)technology company founded in 2001 by scientists and economists experienced both in R&D and in business and project management and employs today eight people. The company is located in Bremerhaven, the Centre of the Northern German food industry. It has its facilities in the only German incubator centre for food companies, the BioNord (www.bionord.de). This allows biozoon to have access to all necessary food technologies and equipment needed for their development - from lab to pilot scale.

Biozoon develops innovative products and processes together with and for the food industry, trying to improve the functionality of foods and increasing the nutritional health of both humans and animals. The company sells licenses, concepts and products in international markets.

Biozoon develops projects and markets products through partners who can offer effective distribution systems for products and concepts and also complement Biozoon in terms of development capacity. Biozoon has also gained experience in European research projects by taking part in an European Thematic Network called AlgiNet dealing with the use of micro algae as an innovative raw material for food production, in a Coordination Action called Grub’s Up dealing with the valorisation of by-products from food production etc. Currently Biozoon is involved in seven research projects, four at international level and three at national level. These projects keep BZN up-to-date regarding the state of the art and future trends in areas which are of strategic importance to the company’s development.
