BIOENERGY 2020+ GmbH is the scientific backbone of the Austrian biomass industry. Its major fields of activities are biomass combustion (divided into small scale and medium to large scale systems), biomass gasification (gasification and synthetic biofuels, fermentation and liquid biofuels), and modelling and simulation.
The corporate objective of the Competence Centre BIOENERGY 2020+ GmbH is precompetitive research and development in the area of "energy from biomass". The Centre works on national and international projects along the entire value-added chain, i.e. the biofuel production including logistics, the energetic conversion process, ecological interrelationships and the holistic (also economic) consideration of the topic as a whole. This assures the Centre to be up-to-date in state-of-the-art technology and push technology by its own research and development projects in the respective fields. Successful project cooperation with leading technology providers, plant operators and planers as well as research institutions in Central and Northern Europe resulted in a very wide spread network of industry and research partners.
More than 50 scientists and 60 employees in total are currently working at Bioenergy 2020+ GmbH. The company´s headquarter is located in Graz. The two branch locations are situated in Wieselburg and Güssing. At all locations own experimental facilities are available at different scales. BIOENERGY 2020+ also has an outstanding laboratory specialized on fuel and ash analysis.
